Nintendo Q3 FY22 TLDR
Nintendo Q3 FY22 Earnings Report
Here’s what you need to know from Nintendos Q3 FY22 Earnings Report:
Switch is the third best selling Nintendo system of all time with 103.54 million just eclipsing the Wii that sold 101.63. Next on the list is Game Boy at 118.69 and DS at 154.02
The biggest headline is that Nintendo has revised their forecast with 23 million hardware units sold which is down from the original 24, but changing total software sold from 200 million units up to 220 million units, which may appear bad, but it's a net gain as more money is made on software and as result Net Profit is expected to increase 50 Billion Yen.
Breaking down hardware through the first three quarters of the year, which was 18.95 million, it was 11.79 of the original Switch, 3.99 of the Switch OLED and 3.17 of the Switch Lite. Great for OLED Model as it was only available for a few months and it accounted for 21%. Lite only accounts for 16 percent which is way down from over 30% in FY21
Nintendo is likely going to surpass their software projections as they are already at 179.29 million compared to 176.10 in FY21, which ended at 230.88.
Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl were released on November 21, 2021 and in just a little over a month sold 13.97 million. Nintendo also announced that Pokemon: Arceus has sold over 6.5 million copies in its first week, which is close to Animal Crossing copies per day which has gone on to sell over 37 million.
Metroid Dread sold 2.74, which seems good for the franchise in about two months and it’s always worth noting the Mario Kart 8 Deluxe dominance with 7.96 million so far in FY22
