Return to Monkey Island Release Date
As someone who grew up in the 90’s playing point and click adventure games from the likes of Ron Gilbert and Tim Schaefer, the annoucment that the Monkey Island series was not only coming back but was going to be led by none other than Ron Gilbert who started the series was exciting. However the release window that we had was 2022 and with many games slipping into 2023, it seemed like Return to Monkey Island was going to be one of the next casualties. Not only did we get a release date but its much sooner than expected as its due out September 19.
The Expanse: A Telltale Series
As a fan of the Expanse television show and a fan of Telltales earlier work like, this project seemed like a good fit. Everyone knows what happened to Telltale including those at Telltale and what that what makes this new project so appealing. Those who remained at Telltale after LCG acquired the company post bankruptcy likely want to prove something to the world. The other reason to look forward is because The Expanse is being co-developed by Deck Nine, who have shown some graphic adventure chops with their work on Life is Strange. Combine this with seeing some gameplay that looks to be much more than what we have known Telltale for and summer 2023 can’t come soon enough.
Moonbreaker
Unknown Worlds gained something of a cult following after their underwater survival game Subnautica and its follow up Subnautica: Below Zero. Their new IP, Moonbreaker, could not be farther of a departure from their previous work. Moonbreaker is a turn based tactical digital tabletop game that sees you collect, battle and customize tabletop miniatures right down to the painting. In the words of the studio “Moonbreaker is a cross between Xcom and Hearthstone”
Sonic Frontiers Release Date
This is now the third official trailer that we have received for Sonic Frontiers with the first being the teaser, then the story trailer and now this release date trailer. The gameplay from the trailer reminded me of Super Mario Odyssey in the sense that it was taking a classic formula and modernizing the right way. We can see a blend of the 3D open world stuff that we have already seen but it was the 2.5 sections that feel very reminiscent of the glory days of Sonic. On top of that we now have an official release date of November 8.
DualSense Pro
Better late than never as Sony is joining the premium controller party. One of the highlights of the Xbox One generation was the Xbox Elite controller that was released in 2015 with some high featured including build quality, plenty of customizable settings and swappable parts. Although we don’t have any type of release date, one has to assume that it will be before the holiday season to capitalize on sales and also to give it enough distance from the other high end Sony peripheral, which was just announced to be early 2023. There are only two options, before PSVR2 or after PSVR2 and if it’s after, we are looking at summer 2023 and I don’t think it makes sense to announce it now if its not coming out for another year.
