Most Anticipated Roguelike 2024: The Rogue Prince of Persia

Why Evil EMpire is the Right Choice For PRince of Persia Roguelite?

THE BEST WAY TO SUPPORT US IS TO CHECK OUT THE VIDEO BELOW

Fresh off their recent departure from being the caretakers of Dead Cells for almost 5 years, after a somewhat abrupt ending from Motion Twin, Evil Empire have wasted no time revealing their new game: The Rogue Prince of Persia. A roguelite based on the classic IP with a completely original story that has been in development for a few years and will be hitting early access on May 14. The combination of the studios pedigree, the genre, the classic IP and the quality of Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown has quickly made this game our most anticipated rogue coming in 2024.

The Rogue Prince of Persia feels like the game that Jordan Mechner would have created back in 1989 if technology would have allowed him to. The visuals are 2D with strong art direction, the world is full of danger and the focus of the game is on action and agility.

There is no denying that The Rogue Prince of Persia looks like an evolution of Dead Cells, but that’s a good thing. After nearly five years of work on what is arguably one of the best indie games and one of the best in the genre, Evil Empire have clearly been honing their craft and understand what makes fun.

The visuals are stunning (possibly polarizing), the story appears to be a major focus, the prince has more agilities and more powers. This is all done in unisom with keeping the soul of the series as well with classic staples returning. You are once again an unnamed prince who has been gifted time bending powers and with great power comes great responsibility.

Evil Empire getting the recognition they deserve after doing wonders with the Dead Cells franchise and being entrusted to work on such a classic IP isn’t the only good news here. It also feels like Ubisoft might be turning a corner (not including Skull and Bones, which was in development for a very long time). There’s Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown that released earlier this year, which we called the best Metroidvania since Hollow Knight, Star Wars Outlaws coming in August 2024, which looks to be an amazing experience and now this reveal from Evil empire. It shows a company who is willing to take some risks, but it also displays a company that is smart enough to recognize strong opportunities and partner with the right people, in this case Evil Empire. It’s not hard to lose direction at times, but just like Capcom began turning things around with the release of RE7, we could be in the middle of something special with Ubisoft as well.

The Rogue Prince of Persia comes to Steam Early Access on May 14 and Evil Empire have already said that it works great on Deck. We can’t wait to get our hands on it and luckily we don’t have to wait long.
