Here's Why GameCube Is Coming To Nintendo Switch

Here's Why GameCube Is (Likely) Coming To Nintendo Switch

We recently made a video about GameCube likely being the next system coming to Nintendo Switch Online. We talked about how Doug Bowser said that there are a few years left on the Switch and if that was the case it would seem absurd to think they won’t bring another system to NSO.  We also made a list of the top five games you can check out here

Since then there has been a new development that all but confirms GameCube will be coming to Switch sooner than later.

Nintendo has issued a cease and desist to the Dolphin Emulator Project on Steam which is quite popular on the Steam Deck as it has the ability to emulate the GameCube and Wii. There are loads of emulators out there, so why are they targeting this one?

Nintendo claims that this stifles development and innovation, but it would seem more likely that GameCube is going to land on Switch later this year and if the Steam Deck, the main handheld competition of Switch has access to GameCube titles, that would likely hurt new subscribers to NSO. With approximately 40 million subscribers to the service, this is cleary a valuable part of Nintendo’s portfolio and growth passive income strategy.

In the fall of 2018, NES launched on the service, then in fall 2019 SNES, Fall 2021, N64 along with Genesis and finally in Winter of 2023 GameBoy and GBA landed. Considering that at least once a year a new system gets added to NSO I would think it’s safe to assume that we will eventually be playing GameCube on the Switch…  Legally
