Hollow Knight Silksong (Will it Be A Trilogy?)
Will Hollow Knight Be A Trilogy?
It’s November 18, 2014, and a little indie game launches its kickstarter funding with hopes of making a dream come true since their youth of being inspired by Zelda 2. A designer, a illustrator and an animator are the three members from Australia who form Team Cherry. The game is Hollow Knight and in 30 days, Team Cherry was able to get $57 138 from 2158 backers and with the highest tier unlocked at 56 000 being a second playable character with their own unique quests and abilities. You likely know the rest of the story by now with Silksong due out soon and Hornet being the main character.
Colosseum of Fools
What you might not know is that there were many other stretch goals that weren’t reached and looking at the kickstarter page, it got me wondering if we are going to be getting a Hollow Knight trilogy. At 62 000 was the Colosseum of Fools, a challenge arena with four new bosses and a mystery to be solved surrounding the Colosseum. The interesting thing is that despite not hitting that goal on their kickstarted in still was part of Hollow Knight and was located at the top of Kingdoms Edge.
Third Playable Character
The more important goal to me was at 68 000, it unlocked a third playable character also with their own unique quests and abilities. It seems strange to make goals on kickstarter without ideas in mind or prototypes made. On the basis that Colosseum of Fools wasn’t reached but still made it into the game lends weight to the idea that Hollow Knight might be a trilogy.
Silksong Sequel
Pie in the sky they are already developing the third game and they plan to release it closer together as opposed to the time it took between Hollow Knight and Silksong. If the plan is to wait and see how Silksong performs, then based on the five years it took for Silksong, assuming it comes out in 2023, then we would be looking around 2028 to complete the trilogy.
