Somerville Release Date and What It Means For Silksong

Somerville, the first game from Jumpship, the studio co founded by Dino Patti, one half of the founders of Playdead finally has a release date of November 15. It was listed as coming in 2022 at the Xbox and Bethesda showcase and it will also be coming to Xbox Game Pass on day one.

One of the surprises from the Xbox and Bethesda Showcase was when a black screen came on and you heard hornet. Was Silksong finally getting a release date? Microsoft announced that every game shown at the conference was due out before June 2023, meaning that the latest Silksong would be coming out would should be June 2023 and even better was that it would also be coming to Xbox Game Pass.

Xbox even released a graphic that displayed 50 games high profile games that were coming to the platform and it was broken down into 2022 and 2023. Microsoft was asked on social media if all the games coming to Xbox before June 2023 included Hollow Knight: Silksong and they confirmed that it was included as well.

Now that we are at the end of 2022, we can look at the graphic to see what games released and what didn’t to determine the likelihood of Silksong releasing before June 2023. Out of the 25 games on the list, only Hogwarts Legacy was delayed into early 2023 with only a few more remaining. Callisto Protocol, Pentiment, Darktide and High on Life all seem to be very on track for imminent releases. The only title that looks like it might slip into 2023 is Atomic Heart, which has been very quiet about their winter release date.

Assuming Atomic Heart slips into 2023 along with Hogwarts Legacy that’s 23/25 games released in 2022 as Xbox promised or 92%. Therefore transferring this information onto their 2023 slate, there is a 92% chance that Silksong comes out before June 2023.
