Will There Be A Mario Kart 9?

Here’s a small theory,

One of the most important things we learned regarding the future of Nintendo is that we won’t be seeing Mario Kart 9 until at least 2025 or the launch of the Switch successor.  That’s because at the February Direct, Nintendo announced that there is finally new content coming to MK8 Deluxe which was released in 2017 and has since go on to become the best selling Mario kart ever with 43.35 million copies sold.  

The bittersweet news is that Between now and the end of 2023, Nintendo will be releasing booster passes that contain 8 courses.  There will be 6 passes between March 2022 and end of 2023 and with delays as they are it is possible that gets pushed into 2024. Nintendo also wouldn’t want to cut into profit of the booster passes because they are 24.99 Us each or free with Nintendo Switch online expansion pass. With Nintendo saying many times that the switch is halfway through life cycle, it would make a lot more sense to launch their next console with MK9 in 2025 or later
