Will there be a new Captain Toad Game?

Before anyone gets their hopes up, it would seem highly unlikely that Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker will get a sequel. I loved the puzzle nature of the game and solving based on perspective. It was also a joy for anyone of any age, whether alone or together. It reviewed well enough, getting low 80’s from most outlets, it was ported from its original Wii U format to 3DS and Nintendo Switch.

The major reasoning that it likely won’t get a sequel anytime soon is that even after its second chance on a much more successful system, Captain Toad only managed to sell 1.05 million in the first six months on the Switch according to their earnings Report and after that it feel out of the spotlight that it hass’t been featured in their earnings since

What if you are looking for a similar isometric puzzle game? Funny you should ask because just recently it was revealed that Clockstone Studio, most notably known for developing the Bridge Constructor series is making Lego BrickTales.

From the short teaser trailer for Lego BrickTales, there are similar vibes from the way in which each level looks like its own mini diorama to the way that each level requires you to solve puzzles. Both are core tenets to what make Captain Toad fun, the main difference is that instead of using perspective to rotate the camera to solve the puzzles, in BrickTales you are using block building skills to solve each level. You use up spare parts to construct solutions which can sometimes lead to hilarious outcomes when incorrectly built.

While it might not be exactly the same as Captain Toad, Lego BrickTales appears to share a lot of the same DNA as the treasure tracker and could likely scratch the same itch.
