Dead Cells: Return To Castlevania: Will it Be Easy To Find?
Evil Empire and Motion Twin have just released another trailer for Dead Cells: Return to Castlevania and this time there is gameplay! It’s only 37 seconds but the one thing that jumps out to me is the opening start screen. It features Vlad The Impalers castle off in the distant background with a press start screen. This makes me think that unlike the rest of the Dead Cells DLC’s, Return to Castlevania will be accessible from the main hub without having to venture out into the Prisoners Quarters in search for the entrance.
This theory makes sense as The Bad Seed, Fatal Falls and The Queen and the Sea have all been original content. Return to Castlevania is based off the popular Konami IP. Considering how Konami has been with gaming over the past 5-10 years, I would expect they would only agree to this DLC if every Dead Cells player, both old and new, had the chance to play the DLC and didn’t have to discover it by chance during a run.
This is obviously just a theory, but considering that they have shown us two trailers, that have been very vague, and the DLC is due out in Q1 2023, there are still plenty of surprises to come. Add this to the comment from the studio about how the DLC started out like other DLC because what began as a pitch to Konami following the format of their previous DLC’s of two biomes, a boss, new enemies and weapons has “exploded along the way” according to Benjamin Laulan, COO of Evil Empire.
We shouldnt have to wait long to find out as Return to Castlevania is slated for Q1 2023
