Good News...The Wolf Among Us 2 was delayed until 2024

The good news is that Telltale is delaying The Wolf Among Us 2 from 2023 into 2024. This delay actually gives me much greater hope for a triumphant return of Telltale and their take on interactive story driven games

The problems that eventually caused Telltale to go bankrupt and lay off hundreds of employees the first time around are well documented. Problems like engine issues, too many different IP and of course, crunch

The delay of The Wolf Among Us 2 shows us a few things. It shows the new Telltale is aware that it is better to make sure a game is as good as possible before releasing no matter the cost, which in this case means delaying it until 2024. The previous iteration of Telltale would crunch to make sure they met deadlines and would eventually release many broken and buggy games.

The other reason for the delay is that the game has recently switched from Unreal Engine 4 to Unreal Engine 5. Not only are they not using their proprietary engine, Telltale Tool, but they are moving to the latest tech to create the best possible version.

Telltale is already on this ice as they have already burned a lot of bridges and even though this is mostly a new company because after going bankrupt, LCG purchased all of the rights to the IP and assets likely at pennies on the dollar, people are still going to associate them with the Telltale of old. The first impression was already made.

When Speaking with IGN Jamie Ottilie said “If we put this game out and it’s not ready, we’re going to get torn to shreds” Sadly, he’s right and Telltale needs to deliver a great game with their phoenix style debut.
