Watch Out Silksong, Starfield Got Delayed

The North Star that everyone at Xbox was rallying around during their 2022 Xbox and Bethesda Summer Showcase was that every game at the event was going to be released within one year. Microsoft even released a graphic showing what games were going to be released in 2022 and which games were going to be released in 2023. One of the games that people wanted clarification about was Hollow Knight: Silksong, as Team Cherry had been pretty silent about the game since the reveal back in 2019.

Xbox doubled down by clarifying that Silksong was to be included in the statement that every game would be playable within the year. Now that Starfield was delayed for a second time and we have heard absolutely nothing about Silksong since that presentation, nearly a year ago, gamers might be starting to get a little nervous about Hollow Knight: Silksong not being released before June 2023.

Using the graphic that Xbox showed after the event with 25 games coming in 2022 and 25 more coming in 2023 before June we can now look back at the 2022 side and see how accurate it was.

Halo Infinite: Season 3, Atomic Heart, Party Animals and Hogwarts Legacy were all listed for 2022, which is 84 percent of the games listed. It’s too early to fully be able to judge the 2023 side of the calendar but with Starfield getting delayed, Stalker 2 getting delayed until December, Forza recently getting listed as 2023, and games like Ark 2 being silent about their release date, it would seem like 84 percent will be fairly accurate for the 2023 calendar as well.

Delays happen and there is never any reason to be upset even if these games were listed for release at a certain date. It’s always better to make sure the game is in the best possible condition before release and that the health of the employees making the game is always paramount. However, if we are trying to get an idea for the likelihood of Hollow Knight: Silksong releasing by June 12, 2023, the odds are about 84 percent.
