Will There Be a Dead Space 4?

Although we don’t have exact sales figures for the Dead Space Remake, which we might never get from EA, we do have some indications of how well the game sold and what it means for a brand new entry in the series.

Dead Space Remake was the top selling physical game in the UK during its first week of release. Slightly related was that it managed to sell about half of what Callisto Protocol did during its first week in the UK. There are some other factors including price, being released before Christmas and its availability on more platforms.

The other sales info we have is from the NPD group that looks at both physical and digital for most publishers in the US, which makes up a huge portion of the gaming market. Dead Space Remake was the best selling new release for January and only placed behind MW2 for all games in January. Pretty good for a game that released on January 27.

So what does this mean? Well to be honest, its hard to tell, but EA clearly saw enough quality with the game early on that they put Motive on primary development for the upcoming Iron Man game, which has to use some of the movement mechanics from Anthem and is now in active production.

EA has shown they're not afraid to get back into the business of making games with a strong single player focus like Jedi Survivor, Dragon Age 4, Iron Man and whatever the new Mass Effect game will be called just to name a few

If I had to say, EA is pleased that there is strong and renewed interest in the Dead Space IP. This likely means that Motive will be working on a brand new entry in the series that will be its own story. It’s unknown if Motive will be able to split into different teams to create a new Dead Space game in parallel to Iron Man, but according to LinkedIn, the studio is at least 152 people, which means that its possible for a smaller team to start on the Dead Space game.

If you’re a Dead Space fan, this all seems like pretty good news and strong indications that we might see the series return to its glory.
