No, Silksong Hasn't Been Cancelled?

Why Silksong is Worth The Wait

Silksong hasn't been cancelled, despite what you might have read, and although it might be hard to find information, since Team Cherry has been fairly quiet since 2019, the game is still in development. We all know how hard it has been to wait for Silksong, since Team Cherry officially announced the follow-up title back in 2019. With over 5.1 million views on the reveal trailer, there are a lot of eager fans anticipating and rather than try to focus on the negative, lets take a look at the positive with what we know and what appear to be the Top 5 biggest changes coming to Silksong that will hopefully make the wait just a little bit less painful.

  1. Ascension

In Hollow Knight, you were constantly going deeper underground, exploring the dark and dingy corners of Hallownest. In Silksong, you are going up instead of going down as you are ascending to the “shining citadel at the top of the world”. The end result will hopefully be just as atmospheric as the first but slightly brighter level design.

  2. Crafting

In Hollow Knight you had your nail and that was it. It could be forged stronger, and it could reach farther with the right charms but everyone had a similar experience. The hornet will be able to “craft powerful tools. Master an ever expanding arsenal of weapons, traps and mechanisms to confound your enemies and explore new heights” Depending on what you craft could vastly change your experience.

  3. Hunting and Quests

Hallownest is a big world, and sometimes you could end up a little lost without directions and purpose. There were quests in Hollow Knight but they were more like achievements, it sounds like in Silksong, quests will offer you a chance to use your wits to solve puzzle based on what you have seen in the world and hunting will give you a chance to use your skill to hunt down rare beasts. These changes not only provide you with purpose outside of your main objective, should you need a break from the main objective, but also a new challenge

  4. New Enemies

Hollow Knight had over 150 types of enemies and 47 bosses. If there was any doubt that Silksong would just be a slight expansion is that there will be over 150 new enemies the second time around and you can assume that if they went that far with enemies, there will be probably around 47 bosses too.

  5. Silk Soul Mode

Silksong adds a new mode called Silk Soul, which sounds like much more than just a New Game Plus as according to Team Cherry “Spins the game into a unique and challenging experience”

Since Hollow Knight is one of the best Metroidvania’s of all time, and it was revealed in 2019, the wait has been tough, but hopefully knowing how many fresh ideas are coming should quell the thirst for the sequel until it gets released.
